Live In The Moment

Every once in a while, you have a running partner that can really challenge you. Challenges your PATIENCE! I love my running partners, but somedays they can be so distracted. Running in your lane, stopping to enjoy the scenery, slowing their pace, increasing their pace, barking at the cranes. Yes, my running partners, Chloe and Lexi (my dogs) can challenge my patience. As soon as we walk out the door one of them has to announce to the world that we are going for a walk and run. Now we are off, and I mean off. They are the running partners that start out fast. Whoa Chloe, Heel Lexi- Kerplunk! In her response to looking at me, Lexi, when I called her name, runs into Chloe. Well before I could bend down to see if everyone is okay, we are off again. So now we are getting our pace, nice cadence and beginning to feel like we have made progress. All of a sudden, I am jolted to a sudden stop. Now when this happens, in case you never experienced it, your upper body is jolted backward while your legs want to still go forward. This is when you find yourself slipping on the gravel trying to get your footing. Sometimes, it may just be quicker and less painful to take the fall rather than trying to stay upright. What the…. Oh, a CRANE!! See, my Chloe and Lexi are Shelties, Shetland Sheepdogs and they love herding. Herding kids, herding bunnies, herding cranes and, later on in which I find out in a similar situation, cows. So now, I am getting frustrated, stressed and rather impatient when I realize they just live for the moment. They enjoy life and appreciates the scenery, the sights, sounds, and smells. So, after a long sigh, I surrendered and stop, sit on the bench with them enjoying life and God’s scenery. Wow, I feel relaxed, stress free and a calmness. These dogs have something here. Maybe we all should just stop, take a pause and live in the moment. They have taught me it isn’t always about the run and workout. I recently decided to just do yoga with these two. As you see with the pictures, they are challenging yoga partners as well. However, we all know “It's not the Destination, It's the journey.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.
